Confronting a Crisis

In Detroit, homeowners who have invested in the city for generations are living in conditions that put their health and wealth at risk. From leaking roofs to exposed wires and broken furnaces, 43% of Detroiters report having at least one major home repair need.

With our partners, Enterprise launched the
Detroit Home Repair Fund to address urgent health and safety hazards at no cost to low-income homeowners. We've delivered thousands of repairs, but there is still a lot of work to be done, and we need your help.

Donate to make a Difference

A Detroiter all her life, Ms. Jackson purchased her first home in 2011. Over the years, it grew harder and harder to keep up with the unexpected expenses needed to maintain her home. She would tap friends of friends who assured her they could provide repairs but only provided temporary fixes to worsening problems.

It wasn't until she got connected to the Detroit Home Repair Fund, that she finally found the help she needed: new windows, gutters, downspouts, a full roof replacement, and more.
"When they got done with repairs, I was so pleased," said Ms. Jackson. "I would leave the house just so I could come back in again."
